The Rediscovery of the Americas: LATAM in Everyone’s Sights
Latin America has always been known for its wealth of resources, cultural diversity, adaptability, and the warm, people-centered approach of its inhabitants. However, it has long ceased to be perceived solely as sun, heat, beaches, and music.
In the 16th century, with the discovery of the Americas, and later in the 19th century —driven by economic and political motives— European countries saw in LATAM a unique opportunity to develop resources and improve their quality of life, migrating en masse to the region. Today, in the 21st century, we are witnessing a new “rediscovery of the Americas,” but this time remotely, in the search for the best professional talent on the planet.
Renowned universities in countries like Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are training specialists in key areas such as technology, marketing, design, and business. Governments in the region are increasingly investing in infrastructure and education. Latin American professionals stand out for their flexibility and ability to work in multicultural environments —a strength that, combined with the growing pool of highly skilled experts, positions the region as one of the most promising on the global stage.
Speaking of a “rediscovery of the Americas” is therefore not far-fetched. Although we still face significant barriers, more and more ventures are willing to work to break down bureaucracy and simplify entry into LATAM, creating opportunities for people across the region.
Just five years ago, hiring talent in LATAM without a physical or fiscal presence there was an odyssey. Today, thanks to ventures such as Bord, Deel, Ontop, and Buk, the processes for equipping your talent, managing resources, and paying salaries have been greatly simplified —paving the way for more companies to bet on the region.
The future is promising. In this “rediscovery of the Americas,” barriers become challenges to overcome, and opportunities abound for those willing to seize them. LATAM is not only an attractive destination for global companies but also fertile ground for local innovation and entrepreneurship.
With talent, resilience, and vision, professionals and organizations in the region are proving they can compete at the highest level, contributing to a future where Latin America’s success is not the exception but the rule.
Because if there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that LATAM’s potential has no limits —and those who already know it are leading this new chapter in the region’s history.
